The wonder of small things

The fairground wonders of a pack of fags
Found in the bottom of my fetid bag
Tonight
When all was lost
Re –nothing to smoke
And all was found
Re- the glancing wonder of an Emily Day
Emily my fairground child
Garnering nothing much
In flowers
Yet finding her all beside a fire
She did not think was precious at the time
The fumbled sixpence in my lost pocket
That paid for a fairground ride
That was a treasure
In her fractured history
And tonight I found
A fumbled, fag
Such simple Fairground History
When all the firesides are lost
I joy in the glancing notion
Of the wonder of small things
