on the night when I lost evererything

Where do I belong?

Not among the elderflower rich summer hedgerows

Thick with nose life

While my steps sweetly crush

Germander speedwell

Where do I belong?

Not between the rushes

Thick with immanent elephant

On which dance lazy lilac breasted rollers

I belong in a fig tree

Overhanging

A slim steam

Full of my son’s laughter
